Our Purpose
The purpose of a corrections committee is to coordinate the work of individual A.A. members and groups who are interested in carrying our message of recovery to incarcerated alcoholics.

Description
The duties of the Corrections Committee Chairperson have customarily been to:
- Ensure the availability of information about the A.A. message of recovery to our members behind the walls.
- Encourage members of the District 12 A.A. community to initiate and participate in A.A. meetings behind the walls
- Encourage members of the District 12 AA community to take part in such programs as the Prerelease Contact Program and the Corrections Correspondence Service.
- Urge all AA members interested in carrying the message of AA recovery to our AA members behind the walls to first become familiar with GSO’s “AA Guidelines on Corrections Committees.”
- Attend quarterly meetings with the Texas State Corrections 12 Step Committee
- Cooperate with the District 12 Bridge the Gap Committee as it pertains to correctional facilities.
- Submit, if the Committee is in possession of a bank account, monthly bank statements to the District Treasurer and the District Chairperson. The Committee's account balance should be included in the Committee's monthly report.
