Our Purpose
The purpose of the Literature Committee is to inform groups, district or area assembly members, through displays and other suitable methods, of all available Conference-approved literature, audiovisual material and other special items.

AIP Description
The duties of the Literature Committee Chairperson have customarily been to:
- Inform Districts, Groups and individual AA members in District 12 of the availability of, changes to, and the benefits to be gained from the Conference Approved Literature, and to coordinate the flow of such information throughout the District 12 AA community.
- Provide the Conference Approved Literature displays and sales at District 12 Assemblies and Conventions, and to encourage and assist in the provision of Conference Approved Literature displays and sales at local AA events and District and Group meetings in the Area
- Encourage Districts and Groups to elect or appoint Literature Committee Representatives
- Submit, if the Committee is in possession of a bank account, monthly bank statements to the District Treasurer and the District Chairperson. The Committee's account balance should be included in the Committee's monthly report.

The Literature Committee is a lot more than selling books. Books are a big source of funds for AA, but this committee can gather information about AA and what is new and inform the groups about new products and possible changes that could happen. So even if your district is in a city with a central office, I still encourage the district to have a Literature Committee Representative.
